Praise for the Cassie Scot Series

From Publisher’s Weekly:

“Amsden continues the story of the only mundane member of a supernaturally-gifted family in this middling sequel to Cassie Scot: ParaNormal Detective. Cassie, stubborn and proud, is bravely trying to live on her own after her family disowns her. Struggling to make ends meet, she accepts a case involving a pair of magical girls who disappeared from summer camp. With the aid of the handsome Evan Blackwood, to whom Cassie is attracted despite her family’s disapproval and her own better judgment, she follows the trail of the missing girls. What she finds is a dark side of the magical world, and the hidden depths of her family’s past force her to reconsider long-held assumptions. The growing complexity of Cassie’s world makes this an entertaining installment, focusing as much on the will-they, won’t-they romantic chemistry between Cassie and Evan as on the primary mystery. An inconclusive ending is clearly intended to feed into the next volume.”

Kim Falconer, bestselling author of The Spell of Rosette, Quantum Enchantment Series, had this to say:

“When sorcerers call the shots, what’s a girl without powers to do? Get ready for a ripper of a murder mystery full of romance and intrigue, where magic potions bubble, passions spark and vampires are definitely not your friend. Cassie Scot: ParaNormal Detective grabs you by the heart and won’t let go until the very last page. Well written, immersive and unputdownable. This is urban fantasy at its best. More please!”

Blurb
Newly minted librarian, Cara Baker, effectively cuts ties with her tumultuous life in Pittsburgh, and moves to South Carolina where she embraces the peaceful, laid-back style of small town living. Everything seems to be falling into place when Cara finds the perfect house to round out her new plans. Well… perfect except for the immovable hermit living on the top floor. She throws caution to the wind, and buys the fabulous house—hermit and all—without meeting him. By wooing her reclusive renter with notes and mouthwatering meals, he caves and invites her up to the apartment. Preconceived notions are blown out of the water, when she finds Danny isn’t the nerdy Mr. Mole she envisioned.
Unfortunately, FBI phone calls from her past bring Cara’s summer idle to an abrupt halt. Will demons from a former life destroy Cara’s tranquility?

Review:

I mean I loved Ellen's debut novel but second one,Poplar place is INCREDIBLE! She did such a perfect on this novel. I fell in love the story so much I couldn't keep away from my head, literally!

Poplar place, the story of Cara and Danny's. Well mostly Cara's.
Cara want to buy the house of the Poplar place. And she want it so much. But there's a problem. House's have a renter. And He's a weirdo who doesn't go out outside the apartment. Even a weirdo renter she wants to buy the house and she bought it..with a renter.
They started the flirting with letters first but Danny wants to meet her after a time. He wan't looked like she imagined. Actually he was not too short or has a bald. He has a Dirty Blond hair and greeny eyes.
I think Poplar place has an unusual romance. It was easy-quick read. I enjoyed the whole Sixth-sense  and FBI thing.

Excerpt:
I resigned myself to returning the FBI phone calls. I couldn’t put it off any longer. Both Bryant and Hutchins had left phone messages again yesterday, and their persistence made me nervous. Rolling out of bed, I shuffled downstairs to start the coffee, my liquid courage. I drank half a cup and dialed. Hutchins didn’t answer. I braced myself and dialed Special Agent Bryant.
“Bryant.”
“It’s Cara Baker.”
“Listen, I have some news. The U.S. Marshals have lost contact with Tony Rizolli.”
I paused to digest this.
“Cara?”
“You must be joking! How the hell did that happen?”
“His tracking anklet was cut, and he disappeared.”
“Do they think he’s been whacked?”
“They’re not sure.”
“Why are you calling me? You do realize I no longer work for the DA’s office.”
“Yes, we know that.”
Exasperated I asked, “Then why are you calling to tell me this? Not much I can do.”
“I’m concerned about your safety. Tony bore a lot of hostility toward you.”
“The FBI’s concerned, or you’re concerned?”
“I’m concerned.” He stated matter-of-factly.
“What does the FBI think?”
“The FBI thinks there’s a leak in the Marshals’ office and Rizolli’s six feet under.”
“Why does Tony have so much animosity toward me? He walked into a shiny new life provided by the American taxpayers.”
“The money.”
I took a moment, rubbing a hand across my eyes. “What does he know?”
“We’re not sure. I think one of the pencil pushers at the Marshals’ office told him about the Cayman accounts during relocation. There was very little legitimate money he could take into the program. He wasn’t happy about it.”
I sucked in a breath. “Agent Bryant….”
“Call me Tom.”
“Tom, what exactly are you worried about?”
“If Rizolli isn’t sleeping with the fish, he’s a loose cannon. I don’t trust him. You may be in danger.”
“And?”
“And you need to watch your back. Call me or Hutchins if you see anything suspicious. I mean anything out of the ordinary. If you see a strange car in the neighborhood, get the plates and call me.”
“I’ll take that under advisement, Agent Bryant. What about Denise?”
“She’s covered. I’ve called in some favors.”
“Fine. Please let me know if anything new develops.”

In a Cream Packyard by Edward R. Hackamer

18480446BLURB:
In A Cream Packard ~ is a romantic tale laced with nostalgia, automobiles, and music from the golden age of rock and roll. Maryanne Dahl, a 21 year old redhead from Appleton, Wisconsin and Alexander Throckmorton, a 26 year old Navy veteran from Detroit, Michigan are the main characters. This romantic adventure recounts a road trip taken in the late spring of 1954 traveling south on US Route 23, the fabled two-lane highway that runs from Mackinaw City, Michigan to Jacksonville, Florida. The journey starts when two people meet by chance and ends after they confirm their love, endure misfortune, and unlock mystery. The sights, sounds, and elements of the way of life that drove America's love affair with the automobile and two-lane blacktop are presented as nostalgic romance. It is life before the Eisenhower Interstate System. It is a ride on the Hillbilly Highway. Edward R Hackemer, ~ In a Cream Packard ~ 2013

Honestly this isn't a genre for my age or I like these books. Mr. Hackemer ask me to review his book on Bookblog.ning.com and I accept it,don't ask me why :) Since I know how to read english I read and translate to my mom. More like this is her interest. I read her in 2 month! It was really slow but she like to read like that anyway so I didn't complain her. To me this book was like watching documentary channel. For my mom she not much a fan of love stories (wonder why) but I can't tell she loves the book by looking at her face.

Edward Hackemer
Edward Hackemer lived in Western New York for 55 years before retiring and moving to North Georgia. His life experience includes nearly countless trans-Atlantic trips to Europe; employment history runs from paperboy to truck driver to the US Government Service. He spent several years overseas, is a veteran of the US Army, and happily married since 1968. He met his wife in Norway, and she was naturalized after they returned to the United States. He is currently enjoying retirement with his wife of 43 years, his son, daughter (in-law), and two (grand) daughters.
During the writing of 'In A Cream Packard' and 'The Katydid Effect' the author drew not only from personal memories, but steeped himself in period music and culture: 1949 through 1967 rock and roll, blues, jazz, movies, television, and popular music as well as extensive research into contemporary retail products, services and prices. The novels are historically correct to the timeline of the book, with passing reference to relevant news and sports. While he drew on much of his personal memories and experiences, they were factually verified and time authenticated.
The author hopes that readers will enjoy the story as much as he enjoyed wri
ting it.
Life is grand. Remember. That's important.

In exchange for her soul, Kassina obtains power to become the most feared sorceress in all the lands, and vows to exact her revenge on the people for the deaths of her parents. But that peace is shattered when King Arman is slain by his own son, a pawn of the vampire sorceress Kassina. Arman’s murder sparks the most brutal and bloody war ever seen between the Forces of Darkness and the peaceful Marithians.
In the midst of the conflict, Vartan, a young knight wrongfully outcast from King Arman’s court, reluctantly discovers he is the subject of a prophecy involving the fabled weapon, Talonsphere. In alliance with the legendary dragons, he finds himself with the opportunity to rid the world of Kassina and her dark armies forever, and finally return Marithia to an era of peace.

Review:

Before I start my review,I have to say In my 19 year life I never read a book about Dragons, sorceress, demons etc. So This little bit Way big for me and I thought Why I don't try to read? And The Author ask me to too.

This book was given to me by the author, himself, in exchange for an honest review. So, Peter, thank you for letting me read this book.
There's a so much action,sometimes I confused but later I understand...again again and again.
I love that there's no old language. The subject is cool so that's why I want to read too. But this not for me. If this book were a movie I can give 10 Stars But My stars is three for this book. :)

About Author

Peter Koevari is a writer that holds fantasy dearly close to his heart. From an early age, he was immersed in all media of fantasy that he could get his hands on. Memories of movies such as The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Star Wars, Conan, The Last Starfighter, The Princess Bride, and many more are cherished memories of fantasy nostalgia.
Peter’s hunger for storytelling was growing from a young age. Feeding off movies, video games, and books, the hunger had never been quenched. There was a yearning for something, as if he was enchanted by a spell and did not know how to release it.
The worlds held inside his imagination had to be shared with readers of the world.
It took over 10 long years to unlock the doors to worlds such as Marithia, and to pen them into books to share with anyone willing to travel to his worlds, but once he found the key and began to write… everything made sense.
Peter’s writing will surprise you, may shock you and take your emotions by its talons, but will transport your mind into a world of fantasy like you have never read before.
