Nothing Left to Lose by Kirsty Moseley

Annabelle Spencer’s life is every girl’s dream. She has wonderful parents, great friends, and of course the perfect boyfriend, Jack Roberts. That all changes on her sixteenth birthday when her life comes crashing down around her. Her dream night turns into a nightmare when Jack is murdered right in front of her, and she’s kidnapped by his murderer, Carter Thomas, a big time drug and arms dealer.

After ten months of being with Carter, she’s found, but the experience has totally changed her. She’s no longer the happy-go-lucky girl that everyone used to know and love; she’s now cold, hard and suffers from night terrors. It appears that Carter broke not only her body, but her spirit too. A shadow of her former self, her slogan for life is now: ‘If you don’t care about anything, then you have nothing to lose’.

Carter is currently serving time for the murder of Jack, a conviction that Anna helped secure. But his retrial is coming up because some key evidence appears to have been tampered with. Unbeknown to Anna, death threats are being received by her father, the Senator. It appears that Carter is still interested in Anna and will stop at nothing to get her back.

Ashton Taylor is brought in to protect her. He’s a newly qualified SWAT agent, a bright spark, the agency’s new golden boy. He is assigned undercover, posing as her boyfriend. His job is to help her through college and keep her safe until the end of the trial in eight months’ time.

For three years she has been the broken, damaged girl, refusing to feel emotion or pain, but can Ashton help her rebuild her life and finally deal with the grief of losing her childhood sweetheart? Will he be the one to make her see that life is, in fact, worth living and that not all men will hurt her?

All the while, the shadow of the trial looms over the both of them, taunting them, reminding them that it isn’t over yet. After all, Carter Thomas will stop at nothing to be reunited with his ‘Princess’.

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review from Whairigail @ Addicted2B00ks.

Anna was perfectly happy with a magnificent boyfriend, who loved her unconditionally from the age of 5, loving parents and a life most would covet, but that didn’t stop her from wanting to go to a club the night of her 16th birthday.

That night was end of their happy life.Anna lost her virginity and Jack was murdered.
There's Carter Leader of a crime syndicate, forced to watch kill her beloved Jack right in front of her. Anna was then kidnapped, abused sexually, emotionally and mentally, beat on a regular basis and forced to witness more things than any 16 year old should have. Anna was found, but would forever be changed.
3 years have passed since then...
And Ashton Taylor Aka Agent Taylor. He's Swat agent and he's only 21.Actually he's fresh and his first job is Anna.Anna is now 19,college student. This new job of Ashton going to be difficult.Because she's just her type.

I flicked it open again and looked at the picture of the girl. Fuck, I sure hope I get undercover with her! I mused. She was just my type, dark hair and dark eyes, and she was the prettiest damn thing I’d ever seen.

The job is protect Anna from Carter and his men. This isn't difficult right? And it's only for 8 month.

OMG! From the first chapter I'm emotionally hooked.I was draw into their life and can't get enough to read to the book! They are so lovely also I feel so sad.  This book was written so well that at some points it felt like I was with them. I felt everything. But this is not only for this book.Every book of Kirsty's. All of them is so awesome I can't get enough somehow. She has a 4 books and I own all of them.
She's always be my favorite author.

“It’s very nice to meet you, sir.”
“You too, Agent Taylor. This is my wife, Melissa.” He gestured to the lady on the
couch. I turned and smiled as it clicked into place why she’d looked so familiar when I
stepped into the room. She looked like Annabelle, but Annabelle had a radiant beauty that far
surpassed her mother’s.
“It’s nice to meet you, ma’am,” I nodded.
“You too. Hopefully you’ll last longer than the other near guards; Annabelle needs
some stability,” she said sadly.
Senator Spencer cleared his throat. “So, Agent Taylor, I’ve read your file, and I
must say it’s mighty impressive. Your reputation is incredible at the agency. They have
exceptionally high hopes for you.” He gestured to the couch for me to sit. “You’ve read your
brief, I assume?” I nodded in confirmation and sat as instructed. “Do you have any questions
before you meet Annabelle?”
I nodded. “Only one, sir. I was wondering why you don’t just tell Miss Spencer about
the threats so that she would be more cooperative with her guards. It would be a lot easier to
protect her, and ultimately make her safer, if she were more accommodating.”
Mrs Spencer gasped and the Senator shook his head fiercely. “Annabelle is very fragile.
She doesn’t like to show it, but she’s still grieving for Jack, and what that animal did to her.”
His hand clenched into a fist before he took a deep breath and composed himself. I liked this
guy already. “She can’t be told. She barely copes as it is, she doesn’t need anything else to
worry about on top.” He stood up and walked to his desk, picking up his phone. “Maddy,
could you have Annabelle come in here now, please?”
His face still looked sad with deep pain across it. This man had worries about his
daughter that no father should ever have to go through. I hadn’t thought about them when I
read her file. Thinking about it now though, I realised that they had been through hell too.
Their sixteen year old daughter goes missing, presumed dead, then months later she’s found
broken, abused, and totally a changed person. They had to watch her sink into depression and
attempt suicide and turn into a cold, heartless person, and now they couldn’t even hug her or
hold her hand.
The phone on the desk buzzed, and Maddy’s voice came through the intercom.
“Senator, Annabelle’s here,” she announced.
“Okay, Maddy, send her in,” the Senator answered, glancing at me, his expression
almost apologetic.
A few seconds later she walked into the room. As soon as I laid eyes on her, I knew I
was in trouble. She looked so incredibly vulnerable. Her eyes were cold and distant and held
a pain that I couldn’t bear to think about. She had seen things that no one should ever see.
Carter had broken not only her body, but her spirit too.
Her eyes only flicked to me for a split second and held no reaction whatsoever before
she turned to her father. My heart skipped a beat and my stomach tied in a knot. I wanted
to run to her, wrap my arms around her, and tell her everything would be okay. I wanted to
make her smile and hear her laugh.
“It’s very nice to meet you, sir.”

Kirsty Moseley has always been a passionate reader since she was a little girl, devouring books overnight, barely sleeping and paying for it at school the next day. Writing has come similarly to her and once she discovered Wattpad, she finally plucked up the courage to post one of her stories. Seven million reads later, she self-published her debut novel THE BOY WHO SNEAKS IN MY BEDROOM WINDOW, which later became one of 10 Finalists for the 2012 Goodreads' Choice Awards, Best YA Fiction. Shocked and overwhelmed by the response, she later published her second and third novels, Always You and Free Falling.

If she had to sum herself up in one word, it would probably be 'daydreamer' - but unlike most of her school teachers, she doesn't necessarily view that as a bad thing. After all, she read somewhere once that books are like waking dreams....

Review : Epilogue by C.J Roberts

EPİLOGUE

Orginal Title: Epilogue

Series : The Dark Duet

Edition language : English
Version : Kindle
Pages : 209
Published:
June 11th 2013 by Neurotica Books, LLC
(first published May 18th 2013)
I’m writing this because you begged. You know how I love the begging. In fact, you probably know too many things and know them far too well.

Who am I?

Well, that’s what I’m trying to figure out. I was a whore in my youth, a killer since my adolescence, and a monster as a man. I am the man who kidnapped Livvie. I am the man who held her in a dark room for weeks. But, most importantly, I am the man she loves.

She loves me. It’s quite sick, isn’t it?

Of course, there’s more to our story than can be surmised in a few short sentences, but I’m at a loss for justifying my behavior back then. I assume if you’re reading this, I don’t need to make those justifications. You’ve already made your own.

You’re reading this because you want to know about the rest of the story. You want to know what happened that warm summer night in September of 2010, the night I met Livvie at The Paseo. It was the night my life changed all over again.

It didn’t happen exactly as Livvie said. She’s been very kind to me in the retelling of our story. The truth is far more…complicated.

OH GOD FİNALLY IT'S OVER,I THOUGHT.

it's like torture to me and I did myself. It was hard to read. The series so messed up.Okay The Writer is amazing I don't say her ability but subject is so awful for me.Because I don't like to read Dark and bdsm things. So yes that is it.

It is difficult for me to believe that most readers were satisfied with this book, that kidnapping a high school student and training her to be a sex slave makes a good setting for a romantic suspenseful novel.
The rape and other sex crimes committed in this book caused my stomach to turn, and if that weren't enough, the victims experienced orgasms during the forced violations.
The scenes are graphic and detailed, just as most erotica books are written to provoke some sensuality from the reader, the difference is that rape isn't sensual nor is it satisfying and pleasurable to the victim.
I don't know how anyone can take the serious problem of human trafficking, and make a love story from it.
This book is probably a rapist's favorite bedtime story. It brings to mind that infamous quote from Bobby Knight: "if rape is inevitable, you might as well enjoy it".
I'm disappointed that this book was recommended to me, I'm embarrassed that I downloaded it, and it disturbs me to think that something as serious as rape and kidnapping is entertainment.

Breathing Series by Rebecca Donovan

 Reason to Breathe

"No one tried to get involved with me, and I kept to myself. This was the place where everything was supposed to be safe and easy. How could Evan Mathews unravel my constant universe in just one day?"

In the affluent town of Weslyn, Connecticut, where most people worry about what to be seen in and who to be seen with, Emma Thomas would rather not be seen at all. She’s more concerned with feigning perfection while pulling down her sleeves to conceal the bruises - not wanting anyone to know how far from perfect her life truly is. Without expecting it, she finds love. It challenges her to recognize her own worth - but at the risk of revealing the terrible secret she’s desperate to hide.

Reason to Breathe is an electrifying page turner from start to finish, a unique tale of life-changing love, unspeakable cruelty, and one girl’s fragile grasp of hope.

Review

“What if I don't want to be friends with you?" he challenged, grinning again, staring directly into my eyes. Obviously taking me seriously was an impossibility for Evan.
Despite not being able to breathe, I connected with his taunting gaze and refused to look away. "Then we won't be friends," I said flatly.
"What if I want to be more than friends?”

I started reading this book and literally could not put it down - I HAD to know how it ended, so I was up until 4am devouring every moment. It was a long book and I've read a couple of the deleted scenes and really wouldn't have minded if it was even longer.
We had a chance to really get to know the characters - minor and major characters - they all worked so well together.

Sara. Emma's best friend. I so love her! Even though she's the most popular girl in school I saw how much she cares and loves Emma. They were the opposites but she's been really kind to her and it was genuine. I love that she cried when she saw Emma's bruises, I love her when she dresses Emma and run a make-over, I love her that she's gave Emma a phone just so she could check her out if she's okay. She's a lovely character.
Evan. Totally. LOL. Of course I love him! Who would not? He's the kind of guy you would really want to date. The perfect one. Really. Haha. Everything he did was so real and genuine. He's a really wonderful character.

“I love that picture, he admitted softly. I think it's because I love the girl in that picture.”

I just don't get why Emma doesn't want to report her aunt and that she needs to protect her cousins and that it would be worse if she did that. Well, at first I understand her. She knows what it feels to not to have a parent and she really love her cousins. But as the abuse grew I totally hate that she keeps on thinking like that. I know she's scared but...ughhh. That was way too much. It was really frustrating.
And Drew...he's like stalking her.First The party and second training. He is like obsessed to Emma.
I wish her Father live.Sometimes you lose someone you're lost everything.
Emma. I adore her but sometimes she's just seriously frustrating and annoying. I love her for she cares so much for her love ones. But I hate her for being so selfless. She was a wonderful character but sometimes I don't get her decisions.

“I knew in that moment, I would never love anyone in my life the way I loved Evan Mathews.”

And I have to admit,I cry...a lot. Her aunt such a bitch!I wish somebody kill her. When I read the chapter   about  abusing..I got angry and I cried so much.Nobody Deserve like that things.
And   George is supposed to be Uncle?! He even see what her do to Emma and he doesn't say anything because of she's the children mother. WHATTHEFUCK?!

Barely Breathing

Emma’s struggle with an abusive home life came to a heart pounding conclusion in the final chapters of Reason to Breathe. Now everyone in Weslyn knows Emma’s secret, but Carol can’t hurt Emma anymore. Some are still haunted by the horror of that night, and some must face the repercussions of their choices. Fans of Rebecca Donovan’s debut novel will discover there’s still much to learn about Emma’s life.

Review

I wanna start my review with saying 'POOR EVAN!!'

Oh my goodness! I just ignored my family while I finished this book, absolutely could not put it down!In this book There're so much Secrets around.
It has been 6 months since the night Em's aunt killed tried to kill her. She has been found guilty and is in jail. Letting Emily try and get on with her life. Evan is still right besides her, being the amazing supporting person that he is. As is Sara.

“I breathed for you... I begged for you to breathe with every breath I gave to you. I kept pleading for you to breathe over and over again. And then… then you did. ~ Evan”

Em is living with Sara and her parents. Em has horrible nightmares about that night still... she tries to tell everyone that she is ok.. but she's not... She makes the decision to move in with her Mum Rachel to try and fix that relationship. However Rachel is still not ready to be a Mum. She tries to be a friend, but Rachel has a problem with drinking. She also blames Em for this.
Rachel tries to fit into Ems life by attending Basketball games and hosting parties, but sometimes life isn't all roses. Enter Rachel's new boyfriend Jonathon. He's fun and into Rachel, but he's younger. Rachel thinks he's 28 when he is really 24.Jonathon and Em form a relationship, what starts as bonding for Rachel turns into a real friendship. Jonathon can't sleep because of his nightmare as well. So they end up spending most nights together watching late night TV and talking through their fears. Emily can't talk to anyone else about it as they wouldn't understand what she's going through would they? ...

This series is rough. I was drained at the end of this one. The first installment was tragic for Emma. The second, because of Emma.
When I finish this book,I'm mess.Like I don't know what I do?! H
 How I react this end?!

“Sometimes people hurt more than they can handle... And sometimes they don't know how to ask for help. They're so caught up in their own pain, they end up hurting everyone around them.”

Emma leaves Weslyn and everyone in it behind to attend Stanford University, just as she always intended. A shell of her former self, she is not the same girl. She is broken, and the only way that she’ll be whole again is through forgiveness. Emma must find a way to forgive herself and recognize her own worth before she can receive the love she deserves. This final installment will have readers holding their breath until the very last page.

Review

The Starting is so casual like never happen anything second book.So I question.WHY?
I want to learn so I read...read and read. And I realize..WHAT THE FUCK? WHERE İS EVAN?!
I Read so much Chapter and he's not in there!
So ın a short time I learn.Everything happen two years ago?And I say WHAT?!

I have read so many books in my life that I have raved about. Books that I added on my favorites shelf and would recommend a million times over. There are characters that I loved and those I loved to hate. But none of them have ever impacted me quite like this series. Now, I won't lie and say this finally book in Emma's journey was all rainbows and hearts. She makes some decisions that I didn't agree with at all. But we all have made choices that others may not like and in most cases we learn from them. And I believe Emma did continue to learn and grow throughout Out of Breath. It truly was a book of her finding herself, making peace with a past she can not change and in the end learning to live.

I know for so many (myself included) there was no way this book could be what I wanted if she didn't end of with Evan. But I can honestly say now, I no longer feel that way. After going through Emma's struggles in OOB to find some sort of balance in her life, I only wanted her happiness in the end. No matter how or who she found that with. And I am happy with how things turned out.

‘Evan Mathews, you can tell yourself and
everyone else that you’re here to get answers,
for closure. But the truth is, you love
her. You have always loved her. You will always
love her. You’re here because you can’t
walk away. You saw how broken and empty
she was back in Weslyn, and you had to follow
her. You’ll never be able to let her go.
You’re here because … it’s where you belong,
with her.’
